One of Russia's largest refineries caught fire in Leningrad Oblast after drone attack

On the night of August 30, drones attacked one of Russia's largest oil refineries – the "Kirishinefteorgsintez" plant in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast.

Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko did not directly confirm the fact of attacks on the refinery but announced the downing of 42 UAVs over the region and a fire in the industrial zone of Kirishi.

"KINEF" is part of the "Surgutneftegaz" company structure. This plant is the largest in Leningrad Oblast and one of the largest in Russia. It can process about 20 million tons of oil per year. Last year, it processed 17.5 million tons, which is approximately 6.6% of the total volume in the country. The enterprise is part of the "Surgutneftegaz" company.

It is also reported that a residential building in Kirishi was hit, on the roof of which an air defense (AD) firing point was equipped.

In addition to Leningrad Oblast, the city of Yeysk (Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation) was also targeted, where drones, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels, attacked a military airfield and a military town.
