"Let them eat it themselves." Minsk residents surprised by prices for homemade preserves
At one of the capital's markets in the Uruchcha-3 microdistrict, attention was drawn to the prices of homemade canned goods. It turned out that ordinary preserves are quite expensive, which surprised potential buyers, writes Tochka.by.
A one-liter jar of pickled cucumbers costs 15 rubles. Approximately the same is asked for an assortment of cucumbers and tomatoes. A half-liter jar of sorrel will cost 10 rubles, and the same amount of honey - 16 rubles.
The prices were actively discussed on social networks. Some users considered them inflated and noted that it is much more profitable to make preserves independently.
One woman wrote that her sorrel harvest was so good that she filled her freezer with it, treated her neighbors, and sent the rest to compost. Therefore, she sees no point in paying 10 rubles for a jar that will only be enough for one meal. Let them eat it themselves, she said.
Others also noted that they prefer their own canning, as they know what it's made from and what recipe was used. Some even joked that now it's clear why hostesses can hundreds of jars every season.
