Lukashenka Reproached Russia, China, and India for Lack of Initiative
Aliaksandr Lukashenka arrived at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek and leveled a series of reproaches and claims there. He accused the largest SCO participants — Russia, China, and India — of a lack of initiative, the entire organization of excessive sluggishness, and the UN of inability to agree.
Most unexpectedly, Lukashenka reproached Russia, China, and India. He started with a compliment — calling them the three most powerful states of the SCO and stating that leadership is expected precisely from them. But, according to him, so far without success.
"No matter how equal we are here, we recognize that we have three most powerful states — the People's Republic of China, India, the Russian Federation. We expect initiative from them first and foremost.
This initiative, unfortunately, is not yet there," Lukashenka said.
He was also dissatisfied with the work of the SCO itself. Lukashenka noted that the organization's participants talk a lot about its special "Shanghai spirit" and global significance, but do not move to real actions.
"People expect concrete actions from us towards multipolarity. Time is running out," he declared. If the organization continues to procrastinate, Lukashenka believes it could turn into an equally ineffective structure as the current UN.
At the same time, Lukashenka stated that SCO participants are even afraid to openly talk about the need for changes (unlike him).
According to Lukashenka, the organization could help improve the UN and restore its role as a platform for resolving world problems, and not "an instrument in the hands of the West to pressure sovereign and independent states."
Lukashenka reproached the UN itself for the fact that political disagreements prevent it from truly participating in stopping armed conflicts. As an example, he mentioned the situation around Iran.
Lukashenka proposed that the SCO independently deal with solutions that have "stalled" in the UN, allegedly due to Western resistance.
As another recipe for rebuilding the world order, Lukashenka proposed the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity. Negotiations on it are planned to be officially launched at the UN General Assembly session, and practical discussions will continue in November in Minsk. Lukashenka invited the summit participants there.
