Whitkoff and Kushner were offered to fly to Belarus and go to Ukraine from Gomel. But they refused
Ukrainian special services were ready to meet US President's envoys Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner in Belarus and ensure their trip from Gomel to Ukraine. However, the American delegation chose the train, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

According to Zelenskyy, Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner had the opportunity to fly to Belarus and travel to Ukraine from Gomel.
"It's about three hours' drive from Gomel. We also worked hard, and our security service was formally ready to meet Steve and Jared," Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine could also receive a plane with American negotiators at one of two airports — Zhuliany or Boryspil.
"Ukraine was ready to receive an American plane. A plane with a delegation of negotiators. Both Boryspil and Zhuliany could have been used. Russia definitely wanted to emphasize that there is no security in Ukraine, and they struck both the runway in Zhuliany and the runway in Boryspil.
Technically, our airports are ready to receive delegations. The question is whether the Russian Federation provides this security corridor."
Ultimately, the Americans decided to travel by train.
"They chose the train. We said it would be a safe and comfortable arrival in Ukraine. The entire American delegation really liked the train. We agreed that they would come again," Zelenskyy concluded.
