Pinsk Shipyard Builds New Vessel for the First Time in a Long While VIDEO
The Pinsk Ship Building and Repair Plant is trying to restore the production of vessels. The new trimaran 'Veras' is currently undergoing water trials.
The vessel is designed for 12 passengers and a captain. It can develop a speed of up to 7.5 knots, has a displacement of about 3.2 tons, and is equipped with a 40 horsepower engine.
For now, only the essentials have been installed on the trimaran: seats, a steering column, remote engine control, and boxes for life jackets. After acceptance by a special commission, a stereo system, refrigerator, sun and rain protection, a passenger table, and a ship's bell may be added.
As explained at the plant, the trimaran belongs to inland waterway vessels, so it can be used for commercial passenger transport.
The plant has already received an inquiry from one of the sanatoriums. If the potential customer decides to purchase the vessel, the first trimaran will be sold.
“Currently, there aren’t many opportunities to take a boat ride on the Pina River. I think this is a pretty good way to spend time, especially on weekends and with family,” noted Dmitry Protasevich, a design engineer at the enterprise.
The trimaran was named 'Veras' in honor of the enterprise's employee, Vera Serafimovna, who participated in the project's creation from the very beginning. The vessel's factory trials were successful.
