In Indonesia, a new suspension bridge flipped during its official opening. People fell from a height
In Margacinta village, West Java, Indonesia, an incident occurred during the official opening of a new suspension bridge. The 60-meter long structure began to sway violently and then flipped onto its side after one of the main cables could not withstand the load.

About 50 people walked onto the bridge simultaneously, although according to safety requirements, only three people could be on it at a time. People fell from a height of approximately 20 meters, some of them tried to hold onto the cables and wires.
Despite the dangerous situation, however, there were no fatalities. Several people sustained minor injuries, and among the injured was the head of the local public works department.
Village head Enjang Anwar Salihin said that before the incident, the bridge began to sway noticeably from side to side. People realized something dangerous was happening, but did not have time to react, as everything happened in a matter of seconds.
Indonesian army representative, Brigadier General Doni Pramono, clarified that the bridge did not fully collapse. According to him, due to the excessive number of people and heavy load, the left suspension cable detached from its fastening, causing the entire structure to tilt to the side.
After the incident, the bridge was temporarily closed to traffic. Specialists are carrying out the necessary repairs and strengthening safety measures.
