On the evening of September 3, Kyiv and the region continued to be attacked by a Russian group of reactive drones. According to the capital's mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, at least nine people were injured in the strikes over several hours, six of whom, including a 12-year-old girl, were hospitalized, reports the Ukrainian service of the BBC.
Throughout the day, air raid alerts were announced several times in Kyiv. According to the information from the Air Force of Ukraine, reactive drones were moving towards the city from both the north and the south. Later, a new group of "Shaheds" joined the attack. Explosions and the work of air defense were heard in various districts of the capital.
In the Holosiivskyi district, a Russian drone hit a nine-story residential building. The fire engulfed rooms from the fourth to the ninth floor, and there was also damage on the ninth floor. 15 people were evacuated from the building. Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported one fatality.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district, drone debris fell into the yard of a private house and damaged a car. In the Solomianskyi district, debris from downed drones fell onto an open park area and onto the territory of non-residential development, where a fire broke out.
The attack continued into the evening. Vitaliy Klitschko urged residents to stay in safe places.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his evening address, also confirmed that one of the Russian drones struck the Coca-Cola plant in Brovary, Kyiv region. He stated that the Russian side could not have been unaware that the enterprise is of American origin, and called this strike a signal to the USA.
Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine would respond to Russian attacks with "asymmetric operations". He mentioned the attack on Russian Major General Mykola Varpakhovych, who was shot twice by an unknown assailant riding a motorcycle in the Saratov region on September 3. The Russian serviceman sustained severe facial and body injuries and was hospitalized.
