Trump advised his new press secretary to think again if she needed it. She thought about it
U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that the new White House press secretary, Katie Zakaria, reconsider her decision to take the position. He told reporters about this on October 16.

According to Trump, during his conversation with Zakaria, he told her:
"Honestly, if I were you, I would change my mind. Katie, do you need this? I don't think you need it."
Trump added that they would talk about it again after his return to the White House, but he would leave the final decision to Zakaria.
Soon after, the White House confirmed to the BBC that Katie Zakaria was "transitioning" from the press secretary role to another job. From what point she will cease to perform her duties and what she will do next is currently unknown.
Anthony Scaramucci, fired by Trump from the position of White House press secretary in 2017 after only 11 days in office, has already reacted to the news about Katie Zakaria on the social network X:
"Records are made to be broken. But I don't rejoice in other people's failures."
Katie Zakaria is a conservative commentator who previously worked at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. On October 9, she was chosen as the new White House press secretary.
However, after her very first briefing for journalists, the media criticized Zakaria, drawing attention to her insufficient competence. The White House came to her defense amid this criticism.
