Tikhanovsky: Tikhanovskaya's Legitimacy from Belarusians is Very Little — Office-Adjacent Structures and a Couple of Concerned Individuals
"Sviatlana Heorhiyeuna committed fraud and passed off my initiative group as her own," states the blogger.
Blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky, in his latest stream, assessed the role of his wife, Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya, leader of the democratic forces.
"Who is Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya?" he asked himself. "She was simply a technical candidate, for whom all Belarusians who were against Lukashenka voted.
The percentage of those who voted specifically for Sviatlana Heorhiyeuna herself is negligible, as no one even knew her. They only knew that she was the wife of the blogger, the real candidate Sergei Tikhanovsky, whom the Central Election Commission did not register. And that is why, by committing fraud and passing off my initiative group as her own, Sviatlana Heorhiyeuna registered as a candidate then.
And she was registered only because she posed no threat to the regime: she had no supporters, no political experience, nothing, not even her own team.'"
According to the former political prisoner, Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya has a certain legitimacy from the European Union, "but there is no legitimacy from Belarusians as such at all."
According to Tikhanovsky, her legitimacy is "very little: office-adjacent structures and a few concerned individuals."
To add that same "legitimacy," Sergei Tikhanovsky proposed creating an oversight council around the Office — "to take ex-presidential candidates, protest leaders, symbols of the revolution and create an oversight council from them within one organization, which could be called the United Office of Democratic Forces." As he believes, it could include Viktor Babariko, Maria Kalesnikava, Valery and Veronika Tsepkalo, Sergei and Sviatlana Tikhanovsky, Zianon Pazniak, Pavel Seviarynets, Pavel Latushka, Natallia Radina, and also Mikalai Statkevich — "if he can safely participate."
According to Tikhanovsky, such a united office would gain "significantly more trust than just the office of one technical candidate."
