What will change for Belarusians after signing a new migration agreement with Russia
A new migration agreement between Belarus and Russia provides for the possibility of entering Russia with ID cards, indefinite stay of citizens of the two countries on the territory of the neighboring state, and simplification of document processing, writes the publication Office Life.

In July, Alexander Lukashenka signed a decree approving the draft amendments to the agreement on equal rights of citizens in the sphere of migration, and at the end of September, the parties signed the final protocol.
One of the main innovations will be the possibility to travel to Russia using ID cards by any means of transport. Currently, this document is only used domestically. For Belarusians, this will allow saving on the processing of a biometric passport if they only travel to Russia. In addition, it will be possible to submit a passport to the embassy for visa processing and simultaneously travel to the neighboring country using an ID card.
The protocol also formalizes the right of Belarusian citizens to stay indefinitely in Russia, and Russian citizens in Belarus. However, when staying in the neighboring country for more than 90 days, registration will still be mandatory.
The procedure for processing documents will also be simplified. The processing time for permanent residency applications will be shortened from three to two months, and temporary residency permits will be issued based on the sole fact of having citizenship of the respective country.
The rules for entering Belarus for children under 14 with Russian citizenship will also change. Instead of a birth certificate, they will need a foreign passport.
The new rules will not take effect immediately: the protocol still needs to be ratified by the legislative bodies of both countries.
