Donald Trump's special representatives visited Ukraine for the first time — after negotiations with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. They arrived by train.
Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on September 6. At the station, the American delegation was met by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Rustem Umerov, and the head of the "Servant of the People" faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Davyd Arakhamia.
The American representatives arrived by train.
“The Russians did not allow the American delegation to fly by plane, although our airports were ready,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Earlier, Russia launched strikes on airports in Kyiv and Boryspil. Zelenskyy called them targeted and linked them to the preparation for the possible arrival of American negotiators by air.
Shortly before the delegation's arrival, Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating group and announced that Kyiv's proposals were ready.
This is Whitkoff and Kushner's first visit to Ukraine. Previously, they had only met with Ukrainian representatives abroad. Earlier, the American negotiators held a meeting with Putin in Moscow.
