The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, which took place on September 5, was a small step towards peace, announced Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, writes TASS.
«Certainly, any attempts are more or less effective, this is one small step towards peace,» said the Kremlin representative.
«We truly highly appreciate the peacekeeping efforts of the American negotiators,» he emphasized.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting today with the negotiating group following meetings in Kyiv with representatives of the American president.
«We held three rounds of negotiations. Representatives of the EU — France, Great Britain, and Germany — were also with us. Separately, yesterday, I spoke with Steve and Jared one-on-one about the day's results. The most important thing is to continue working actively and together so that diplomacy exists. (...) We are coordinating further steps. We are preparing for the next meetings and communication,» he wrote.
