Activity of phone fraudsters' couriers stopped. 19 people detained

The Investigative Committee reported that investigators of the Investigative Committee Department for Minsk region, jointly with the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, have stopped the activity of a criminal group that helped phone fraudsters deprive people of their savings.

The defendants acted as couriers: they collected money from caches left by victims at the instruction of the perpetrators.

The received funds were converted into cryptocurrency and transferred to the electronic wallets of the scheme organizers.

With the operational support of special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 19 people were detained, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to seven of them.
