In Gomel, during this year's World Cup, a fight broke out between football fans near a sports bar in the city center, according to the "Belka" publication, citing the city prosecutor's office.

On July 9, men watched the quarter-final match between the national teams of France and Morocco in the bar, drinking beer. The broadcast ended at approximately one in the morning, after which the fans were asked to leave. Near the entrance, they began discussing episodes of the game.
Most of those present supported the French national team (which, by the way, won that match with a score of 2:0), and only a 19-year-old Gomel resident supported Morocco. It was he who behaved most aggressively: already on the street, the young man suddenly punched one of the opponents in the face, as a result of which the victim sustained a skull bone fracture.
A criminal case for hooliganism was opened against the 19-year-old Gomel resident. He fully admitted his guilt. The court sentenced him to a fine of 50 basic units, which currently amounts to 2250 rubles. In addition, he must pay the victim 1500 rubles as compensation for moral damages.
