Mikola Dziadok released a book on counter-revolution technologies

Former political prisoner Mikola Dziadok announced on social media the release of his book titled "Counter-Revolution Technologies". This is his second book since his release from prison (the first was about Hrodna prison), published by "Kommunikat" publishing house.

"The state apparatus was able to win in 2020 largely because people who encountered the repressive toolkit knew nothing about it. And they were not only frightened by this unknown arsenal but also didn't know what to counter it with.

Power, as we see, is not only manifested in truncheons, it is also manifested in the monopoly on knowledge.

In this book, I have tried, as comprehensively as possible, to examine all the methods, means, and approaches by which an authoritarian state deals with civil society, protest, and self-organization. In the eponymous essay, I cataloged and provided examples for literally all elements of this destructive work: from torture to media scandals. From solitary confinement to the spread of rumors. Because they all have one goal — to maintain control.

It contains both more artistic essays (for example, "The State-Farm" — a metaphor about why Lukashenka is not going to leave, even if 99% of Belarusians vote against him), and more research-oriented ones, like the already mentioned "Counter-Revolution Technologies" and the essay "Family Values and Authoritarianism" — about the purpose for which the regime so stubbornly promotes these very family values (spoiler: they don't care about family as a value).

Standing somewhat apart from all is the final essay: my honest account of 15 years of confrontation with GUBOPiK (Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption). Much of what I laid out there, I have never spoken about anywhere before," the author presents his book.

Book presentations are planned soon: on October 24 in Białystok, on the 25th — in Warsaw, and on November 7 — in Bremen, Germany. The list of presentations, as Mikola Dziadok promises, will be updated.
