A figure skater from Belarus has been cleared to compete at the Olympics.
Figure skater Viktoria Safonova, who represents Belarus, has been cleared to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Her application was approved by the relevant Individual Neutrality Assessment Panel, the International Olympic Committee announced.

Along with Safonova, Russian figure skaters Adelia Petrosyan and Petr Gumennik also received the right to compete in a neutral status. All three athletes will be allowed to participate in the tournament in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, if they meet the IOC requirements for neutral athletes.
Victoria Safonova remains the only representative of Belarus who has currently passed the admission procedure. At the 2022 Olympics, she took 13th place, and now she has a chance to compete on the Olympic ice again.
In 2024, the neutral commission refused 15 Belarusian athletes, despite their obtaining licenses, to participate in the Summer Olympics in Paris.
