A cartoon about the genocide of reptiles by wealthy animals is breaking box office records worldwide. Some see an allusion to Palestine.

The first "Zootopia" came out back in 2016. It introduced viewers to this paradise city, where different mammals live. They live according to the rules of Homo sapiens: although the city is adapted to the peculiarities of different animals, it is easily recognizable as an ordinary human metropolis with its own social structure, services, professions and entertainment.

But we are especially interested in two residents of this city. First of all, it's Judy Hopps the rabbit. Sincere and a little naive, she aspired to work in the police since childhood, and in the first "Zootopia" she achieved her dream and even saved the city.

She was helped in this by Nick Wilde the fox, much more practical and down-to-earth than the beautiful Judy. They start the sequel as partners, as Nick has also joined the police and is now working with Judy.

Like many other successful Disney and Pixar animated films, "Zootopia 2" is created on several levels at once. Of course, it is primarily made for children, but the directors deliberately leave many scattered jokes for adults, allusions to adult life and social satire. So here too - Judy the rabbit and Nick the fox are forced to go to group psychotherapy to figure out how personal differences prevent them from working together.

Meanwhile, the city is preparing for a celebration. Zootopia is 100 years old, and to mark the occasion, the diary of the creator of the Elemental Walls will be shown at the festive evening: behind the intricate name are hidden devices that divide the city into four climatic zones. At this evening, Judy and Nick find a new friend - Gary the snake. At the same time, they learn that the heroes of their city, the family of the creator of those very walls, are not at all who they pretend to be.

Gary is the first reptile in the entire Zootopia saga. If this city is a projection of human society, then what does it mean to deliberately exclude such a large group of animals from it? We will also see those responsible for this, the wealthy Lynxley family of lynxes, who strive to control the entire city and, at the same time, have effectively declared war on reptiles.

And here it is important to note another feature of "Zootopia 2" and similar animated films. They are still a soft American power that teaches liberal values - tolerance, respect for personal freedom. Children perceive this at a subconscious level, adults try to read the directors' intentions.

After watching "Zootopia 2", some viewers have found a parallel between the plot and the political situation in the Middle East. The wealthy patriarchal family of lynxes (and if you want, you can take a closer look at the sidelocks on the lynx's face!) is effectively committing genocide against reptiles and trying to evict them from their homes in their own interests. Does this remind you of anything, if you look at the situation from the position of Western supporters of Palestine?

What is beyond any doubt is the level of animation. "Zootopia 2" works out all 150 million dollars invested in it: you will see this in hundreds of unique animal characters, made so well that you can evaluate their acting work. And don't forget to appreciate the detail of the city itself, which consists of thousands of small elements.

Disney Studios, the creators of "Zootopia 2", have no reason to worry about the millions spent. The cartoon turned out to be super profitable and grossed $556 million in its first weekend in the global box office - this is the best start in box office history for animation.

Part of these millions will go to Shakira's fee, as the musical superstar has returned to Zootopia again. As in the past, she voiced the role of Gazelle - the pop star of Zootopia, and also recorded a song for the cartoon. The original version of the cartoon features the voices of numerous movie stars such as Jean Reno and Idris Elba, and there was even a place for Ed Sheeran. And if you watch carefully, you will notice references to top movie projects such as "The Silence of the Lambs" or "Ratatouille."

But that's not the main thing in the "Zootopia 2" universe. Under the guise of a cartoon with a crazy budget, the creators of the sequel, as in the past, managed to hide the deep meanings for which this story is loved by millions. This is a story about society, friendship and the fact that although we are all outwardly different, inside us lives a desire to share this life and our feelings with others.
