The cost of a visa to Egypt has almost doubled.

The entry visa to Egypt now costs $45 instead of the previous $25. The corresponding decision was signed by the country's president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The increase was proposed by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and approved by parliament on November 2.

Within the country, the initiative has drawn criticism, with some officials fearing that the price increase could reduce the competitiveness of the Egyptian tourism market.

Belarusians also require a visa to enter Egypt - it can be obtained upon arrival at the airport.
