The "cooling-off period" for Belarusians roaming in Russia will soon be lifted.
The Ministry of Communications announced that Belarusians will soon be able to use the internet in Russian roaming without having to wait 24 hours. As stated by the First Deputy Minister of Communications Pavel Tkach, Russia has almost completed testing a system that will remove the so-called "cooling-off period" for citizens of Belarus. Instead of waiting a day, a captcha will be used.

According to Pavel Tkach, three of the four largest operators in Russia have already effectively implemented the new mechanism. It is expected that the issue will be finally resolved by the end of the year.
The procedure will be as follows: if a Belarusian comes to Russia, he will receive an SMS with a link. By clicking on it, you will need to enter a captcha - usually simple numbers in a picture. After correct entry, access to the Internet and other services will be immediately restored. Tkach noted that testing is already yielding positive results, although the new scheme is not yet working for all operators.
The "cooling-off period" in Russia was introduced to protect against Ukrainian drones. It applies to everyone - both Russians and foreigners - and restricts access to the Internet and SMS for 24 hours after the SIM card is activated in the network. Voice calls are available at the same time.
Belarusian mobile operators, together with their Russian partners, are currently working to ensure that Belarusians can stay connected without these restrictions.
