Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on social media that he had a "long and meaningful" telephone conversation with American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who had previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week.

The conversation also involved the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Hnatov, who recently met with Witkoff and Kushner in Miami.
Zelenskyy wrote:
"We paid attention to many aspects and quite quickly discussed key things that can guarantee the end of the bloodshed and remove the threat of a third Russian invasion, as well as the threat of Russia not fulfilling its promises, as has happened more than once in the past. Ukraine is determined to work honestly with the American side in the future to truly bring peace," Zelenskyy wrote, adding words of gratitude to US President Donald Trump.
Zelenskyy added that Umerov and Hnatov are now returning to Kyiv and will give him a detailed report on their meeting:
"We can't discuss everything over the phone, so we need to work in detail with the teams on ideas and proposals."
