There's a table, burners, a bathtub, and a toilet — what else do you need for happiness for $280? A "joke" that became a reality in Minsk
It seems this joke is getting out of hand. The trend of renting accommodation without finishing started around the time when construction of a large residential complex began in Minsk on the site of the former airport. People bought inexpensive square meters, and something had to be done with them. Someone came up with the idea of renting out bare concrete "squares" to undemanding tenants, and so it began.
This type of housing has a plus: it's usually inexpensive. But not always. For example, currently in "Minsk-World", a one-room apartment without finishing is being rented for quite a substantial $280, writes Onliner.by.
The apartment is located in the "Milan" house on Shchemyalova Street, 30. It is noted that a tenant is sought for a long term — no less than two years. Among the advantages: a person is registered in the apartment, which means utility payments will be low.
— Without renovation, but everything necessary for living is available, — notes the advertiser. — A toilet, bathtub, countertop with a sink are installed, linoleum is on the floor, walls are primed. All sockets and a switch are present. In the bathroom, there are pipes and 220V for connecting a washing machine.

If you think about it, indeed, the apartment has a minimal set for existence. But, admit it, housing is not just about functionality. Besides the need to eat, wash, and go to the toilet, a person also needs comfort: a mirror, spacious wardrobes, curtains on the windows… A bed, of course, wouldn't hurt either.

You can rent such a semi-finished apartment for $280 per month.
It's interesting that the owner will also require a deposit equal to one month's rent. This is a fairly common practice that gives owners a guarantee that the apartment's property will be in order after tenants move out.
