Not only Geely. Which other Chinese cars have become popular in Belarus
Chinese-Belarusian Geely/Belgee have for several years accounted for over 50% of new car sales in Belarus, but there are other Chinese brands that are also in high demand here.
Dongfeng — a new people's brand?
The second most popular Chinese brand in Belarus is Dongfeng. In 2024, by the number of new car registrations, Dongfeng was only surpassed by Geely/Belgee and Lada. Over 3500 cars were sold then, despite the brand only entering the country in 2023.
In 2025, Dongfeng sales — which means "eastern wind" in Chinese — in Belarus grew to 5040 cars per year. However, despite significant sales growth, the brand dropped from third to fourth position in popularity last year.
In 2023–2024, the best-selling model was the gasoline crossover Dongfeng Shine GS.
In 2025, the most popular model became the compact electric car Dongfeng BOX: last year alone, about 2650 units were registered in Belarus — more than 50% of all new registrations for the Dongfeng brand.
The Dongfeng BOX is currently sold at prices starting from 48,800 rubles (about 16,250 dollars).
Also in Dongfeng's top-3 was the Shine sedan, which is sold with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
Breakthrough of the year: BYD
Last year, Chinese manufacturer BYD surpassed previous leader Tesla (USA) in global electric car sales. And in Belarus, it took third place in popularity.
Last year alone, more than 6600 BYD cars were registered in Belarus.
The most popular model is the electric crossover Song Plus. Last year, 2610 units were registered.
In second place in popularity is the compact electric crossover Yuan Up — 1240 units.
In total, last year BYD cars occupied five positions in the top-10 most popular new electric cars sold in Belarus.
The number of ads for used cars on av.by also shows that BYD is a very popular brand, as it is only surpassed by Geely/Belgee and Dongfeng in terms of offerings.
Voyah — one model, but what a model!
Voyah with its Free SUV made it into the top-10 best-selling passenger cars in Belarus back in 2023.
In 2025, 2530 new Voyah cars were registered in the country, and the brand took fifth position in popularity.
But here it's worth understanding that for Belarusians, Voyah is practically one model, the Free, as out of 2530 total Voyahs, 2430 were precisely this model. Among used cars, the picture is similar: out of 82 cars for sale on av.by, 71 are Voyah Free.
Haval (fall) of the year
By the end of 2024, Haval held fifth place in popularity with 2217 new cars sold per year. But already last year, the brand dropped out of the top-10, taking only 13th place with 760 new car registrations.
This is a very dangerous signal for the brand. It appears that with the arrival of several new Chinese brands, a significant portion of people chose cars from other manufacturers instead of Haval.
Chinese Premium
It's not easy to precisely determine which Chinese brand can rightfully round out the top-5, as not all brands can consistently maintain their positions.
But by a combination of factors, Li Auto — a Chinese premium brand that does not have budget cars in its lineup — can be included in the top five leaders. The cheapest model in the Li lineup costs from 138,000 rubles (about 46 thousand dollars).
Last year, about 2230 Li brand cars were registered in Belarus. The most popular of them is the L6. Currently, prices for last year's bestseller L6 start from 198,000 rubles, which is about 66,000 dollars.
