The US Department of State approved a possible deal to sell Ukraine 500 PAC-3 MSE missiles for Patriot air defense missile systems. The estimated cost of the acquisition is $2.1 billion.

According to the US State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, the deliveries will be paid for by funds from Ukraine's partners and allies.
Specifically, funding will be provided by donations from Canada, Germany, and Norway within the framework of the JUMPSTART program, as well as national funds allocated from a European Union loan to support Ukraine. American government funds will not be used for this transaction.
The Ukrainian government requested 500 PAC-3 missiles with the improved Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE). In addition to the missiles themselves, the delivery includes spare parts, other material and technical assets, and software to support the systems.
The US State Department believes that the deal will strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and contribute to achieving the goals of US foreign policy and national security. According to the department, it will also help strengthen the security of a partner country, which is one of the factors of political and economic stability in Europe.
