An armed clash occurred on the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan, killing at least three
On December 24, two Tajik officers and several armed individuals from the Afghan side were killed on the border of the two countries. The incident occurred in the Baharak district, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Tajikistan reports .

The deceased from the Tajik side were 28-year-old Ismatullo Kurbonov and 33-year-old Zirebon Nazruzbekov.
A Radio source reported several killed and one detained from the Afghan side, but the publication could not verify this information.
The conflict occurred on the same day that Tajikistan commissioned four new border posts on the border with Afghanistan. It is stated that they were built in high-mountainous regions and previously lacked proper protection.
The Afghan publication "Hashti Subh" reported on December 24, citing its sources, that two armed individuals from the Afghan side were killed in return fire from Tajik forces.
On the morning of December 25, the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan confirmed information about the armed clash.
