Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on December 31, on New Year's Eve. According to Lukashenka's press service, they not only exchanged New Year greetings, although that was also part of it.

Reportedly, during the conversation, the politicians, among other things, discussed the situation of recent days, including the incident with the alleged attack by Ukrainian drones on Putin's residence in the Novgorod region.
They also agreed on future meetings after the New Year and coordinated the schedule of joint events planned for 2026.
Among other things, Lukashenka boasted that he had already watched his Russian counterpart's New Year's address.
