«How are our adversaries, rivals, and enemies doing?» Before his New Year's address, Lukashenka demonstratively called Khrenin
Just before the New Year, Alexander Lukashenka delivered his traditional annual address to Belarusians. And before the address, a special scene was staged on BT (Belarusian Television).

Propagandists showed that, supposedly, before going to speak in the studio — it is known that the address is recorded in advance — Lukashenka dials the number of Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin via government communication and asks him:
«Well, how are you doing there? How are our adversaries, rivals, and, God forbid, enemies? Well, you understand, some are celebrating, someone is marking the holiday, but you and I are not celebrating. We need to see everything that is happening.»
After that, having conveyed greetings to «all people in uniform» through Khrenin, Lukashenka supposedly went to deliver his address.
In the address itself, he said nothing original. As usual in such addresses, Lukashenka spoke about a peaceful and secure future for all countries and peoples and thanked «the enormous Belarusian family,» starting from «our workers who delivered a record harvest to the country» and «people in uniform, on whose shoulders our peace rests.»
Also typical was the appeal to the difficult international situation:
«They tried to force us to live by foreign laws, to divide us into 'right' and 'wrong,' to test our resilience with economic storms and political pressure, not understanding that Belarus has something that cannot be taken away from it. This is our habit of sticking together, our Belarusian 'talaka' (collective effort).»
Opponents, he said,
«do not understand that we are accustomed to creating, not destroying. To uniting, not inciting. To talking, not shouting. And this is not weakness — this is our strength, inherited from our ancestors.»
He advised Belarusians the following:
«Before you raise your glasses, I ask you, wherever you are — in Braslav or Loev, in Khatynsk or Malaryta — think: 'What will I do in the new year for my Belarus?' Make just one promise and, believe me, the country will change. The quality of our lives will improve.»
After that, he showered women with many compliments, stating that «without love for a woman, a girl, true love cannot exist,» and finally came to the conclusion that «the time has come to pay tribute to their special role in our lives and declare 2026 the Year of the Belarusian Woman.»
