Head of Ministry of Sports fired with unusual wording

Iryna Varanovich, Director of the Department of Tourism, refused to continue working.

At the end of 2025, two chiefs were dismissed from the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.

53-year-old Oleg Andreychik left the post of Deputy Minister "due to retirement." He served as Deputy Minister for three and a half years, and previously headed the sports and tourism department of the Grodno region. In his youth, Andreychik was a member of the Belarusian national athletics team, competing in long-distance running.

But Iryna Varanovich, Director of the Department of Tourism, was dismissed from the ministry with an unusual wording: "due to refusal to continue work in connection with changes in essential working conditions."

Varanovich is a Candidate of Cultural Studies. She headed the Department of Tourism since January 2020. The essence of the reorganization of her work, with which the official disagreed, is unknown.
