Philip Petkevich, the son of the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister from her first marriage, announced that since the beginning of the year he has been a partner at the St. Petersburg law firm 'Buzko Krasnov'.
Philip Petkevich recorded his impressions of realizing this fact during a one-hour flight from Minsk to St. Petersburg, and then published them on his Telegram channel.
"Sitting in seat 8C on a St. Petersburg — Minsk plane, I get a little over an hour of reflection and a marshmallow, which Belavia lovingly provides."
Colleagues in the profession will easily recall their feelings upon first entering a law firm office: some were scared by stories of long working hours, some really wanted to get in, while others didn't embrace the atmosphere and changed direction. I will share mine.
It was 2017 when I got an internship at a law firm with an office on the upper floors of a trendy business center with floor-to-ceiling windows. I was shown around the offices and introduced to the staff, shown where the meeting room was, where the kitchen was, and where the partners' offices were.
Any partner then seemed like someone unattainable — like an exalted being of the legal world, combining knowledge, wisdom, and the power to hire and fire.
I was just watching another season of 'Suits', and thoughts of future legal victories excited my young mind.
Perhaps it was then that I decided I wanted to climb this entire ladder from start to finish, mastering the profession.
But interns at the start are not very useful creatures, so I was mastering onboarding processes, laws, templates, and, of course, the shredder for destroying confidential documents.
Looking back, every moment from my first entry into the office shaped me as a lawyer and as a person. Just so you know, I even retook my old personality tests — and what do you think? On the path from intern to partner, I transformed from an extrovert to an introvert!
This is what consulting does to people.
«Not at all like Armstrong — here, a tiny step for humanity, but a giant leap for one lawyer named Philip Petkevich. Other steps, victories, and achievements will follow, which I already foresee for the entire Buzko Krasnov team and for myself,» — Philip wrote.
In the comments, he was congratulated by Vitalia Vinnichak, a young employee of Belteleradiocompany.
What is Philip proud of?
«Buzko Krasnov» is the web pseudonym of the St. Petersburg LLC 'Buzko & Partners', in which one hundred percent of the shares belong to the Russian Roman Buzko.
The eponymous law firm was liquidated in 2024; accordingly, in the new LLC, Philip Petkevich can only be a partner in name, and in reality only an employed staff member (unless he becomes a co-owner).
On the LLC's website, 14 people are listed as employees, but not all of them are officially on staff.
The year of the last available financial report for the company is 2024. Based on it, the average monthly salary in the organization can be estimated at around $1620. The company's net profit for the year is $35,000.
On the company's website, Philip Petkevich is listed as a 'partner,' contrary to registry data. It is reported that Philip 'helps entrepreneurs and innovators stay within the legal framework while they change the world'.
The young man 'advises crypto-startups, structures investment funds in the USA and offshore regions, and selects optimal jurisdictions for projects of any scale'.
«Outside the office, Philip can be found doing street photography, traveling, or playing golf or tennis,» — the website adds.
Recall that Philip graduated from the elite BSU Lyceum, received his bachelor's degree from the BSU Law Faculty (with honors), and his Master of Law (also with honors) from New York's Fordham University, where he and his mother moved to live with his second stepfather — diplomat Valentin Rybakov.
After graduating with a master's degree in New York, from August 2019 to April 2020, Philip, judging by his LinkedIn page, was an intern (associate attorney) at a New York legal practice.
After this, the young man bid farewell to the States.
From August 2020 to June 2022, Philip Petkevich's place of work is listed as the Lithuanian law firm Sorainen, active in the Baltic countries and Belarus. Philip noted that he worked on-site — in the position of — associate.
In 2021-2022, the young man attended advanced training courses at the Belarusian Ministry of Finance under three programs: «Corporate Governance. Issuance and Placement of Securities», «Professional and Exchange Activities in Securities in the Republic of Belarus», and «Tax Consulting for Organizations, Individual Entrepreneurs, and Individuals».
In 2024, Philip became a trainee lecturer at the BSU Law Faculty. Petkevich's courses are «Legal Regulation of Digital Technologies in Economic Activity» and «Organizational and Legal Foundations of the Digital Economy».
Online, one can find two cases in the States in which Philip participated.
In both, he, along with other lawyers, represented Russian-speaking applicants, one of whom wanted Binance to unfreeze his crypto wallet, and the other hoped to recover money he had given to scammers from the CryptoKG scam project. The outcomes of the proceedings are unknown.
