In total, in 2025, Russia purchased 680 thousand tons of fish from abroad — this is 3% more than the year before. In monetary terms, imports grew by 7% and reached 3.1 billion dollars. This was reported by TASS with reference to data from the Russian Fish Union.
Supply Leaders
Belarus became the largest exporter, supplying 112 thousand tons of fish to the Russian market. This brought the country 336 million dollars.
The following places in the ranking were taken by:
- China — 96 thousand tons (valued at 410 million dollars). At the same time, supplies from China fell by 14% in physical terms.
- Turkey — 75 thousand tons (482 million dollars).
- Chile — 64 thousand tons (350 million dollars). Chilean exports showed rapid growth: +28% in volume and +35% in monetary terms.
- Vietnam — 57 thousand tons (215 million dollars).
Market Trends
An interesting situation is observed with Chinese imports. Despite the overall decrease in fish supplies from this country, the export of seafood specifically from China grew by 34% and reached its maximum since 2015 (42.5 million dollars).
Belarus, despite having no access to the sea, maintains its status as a key player in the Russian fish market, providing approximately one-sixth of all foreign fish imports to the Russian Federation.
