Monument to the author of the Lithuanian anthem desecrated in the center of Vilnius with an inscription in Belarusian
In the very center of Vilnius, on the evening of February 26, the monument to the poet Vincas Kudirka, the author of the national anthem of Lithuania, was desecrated . It is reported that two unknown individuals wrote "Vilnius is ours" on it with red paint.

The incident occurred around 8 PM on Vincas Kudirka Square, where, among other things, the building of the Lithuanian government is located. The police reportedly launched a pre-trial investigation into the destruction or damage of property.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė stated that she links such provocations to the activities of hostile forces. According to her, in the current tense period, when a war is taking place near the country, Lithuania is also at risk and may face deliberate provocations. She emphasized that the relevant services in Lithuania work effectively and uncover many such crimes.
The incident was reported to the municipal communal service for specialists to clean the paint from the monument.
Similar inscriptions have appeared in Vilnius quite regularly in recent years. There are grounds to believe that they might be done on special order to incite hatred among local residents towards Belarusians. Previous appeals to the police on this matter have yielded no results, and no one has been detained for these inscriptions. Earlier, "Nasha Niva" wrote about how such graffiti is ordered ("part-time job 2-3 hours, 50 euros") and how people are sought in Vilnius who are willing to spy on Lithuanian special services and film Belarusian actions for money.
