Alexander Lukashenka proposed to Zimbabwe to implement a tripartite project together with Mozambique and build a seaport on Mozambique's territory. He stated this during a meeting with the Speaker of the Senate of Zimbabwe, Mabel Memory Chinomona.

«We really need a foothold on the coast of the African continent — in the southeast. This means that we, together with Zimbabwe, must work on building a port in your neighboring state — Mozambique,» Lukashenka noted.
According to him, Belarus can not only build a port but also restore railway connections through Zimbabwe, as the distance there is not great. The tripartite project will allow Zimbabwe to become a good hub for Belarusian products in Africa, as well as attract goods from other states, primarily Russia.
Lukashenka added that the project had already been discussed with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa during his visit to Minsk on May 14, 2025.
The guest from Zimbabwe expressed interest in implementing the project, noting that the proposal is of interest to Mnangagwa, and his authority in African countries allows for quickly launching joint projects.
She also noted that Belarus had assisted Zimbabwe with the mechanization of agriculture, which allowed the African country to harvest a record wheat crop and significantly ease the work of farmers, a significant portion of whom are women.
