At the international theater festival in Mogilev this year almost all foreign productions will be from Russia
Once one of Belarus's strongest international theater festivals, this year it barely qualifies for "union-state" status.
This year's Mogilev festival will take place from March 20 to 27. The announcement tempts with the promise that spectators can expect "17 powerful productions from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia".
In fact, most of the performances will be from Russia, and only one is announced from Kazakhstan. And the Dostoevsky Drama Theater from the city of Semey will come to us with Chekhovian vaudevilles.

Theaters from Russia also show a strong affinity for Chekhov, so audiences can expect both "The Seagull" and "The Lady with the Dog". Also, for example, Pushkin's "The Queen of Spades" and "Eugene Onegin". By the way, if desired, the Smolensk "Queen of Spades" can be compared with the interpretation from Grodno — both productions have an age restriction of 16+, but the foreign one costs more.
The military theme will also be present — primarily handled by guests from Ulyanovsk with the production "Tomorrow There Was War". The Vladimir Drama Theater will address religious themes — here you'll find both icons and spiritual enlightenment based on the stories of Russian writer Vladimir Soloukhin.
A true gem of the festival can be considered the arrival of "Khutar" (The Farmstead) from the Belarusian Puppet Theater, directed by Yevgeny Korneyev based on Vasil Bykaŭ's "The Sign of Trouble". It's always difficult to get into this theater in Minsk, so this is a wonderful opportunity for some residents of Mogilev to see it before Minsk residents.
The price of festival tickets starts from 25 rubles.
