Ronaldo acquired the stake through his company CR7 Sports Investments. The footballer stated that he has long wanted to contribute to the development of football not only on the field.
For more than six years, 'Almería' has been owned by entrepreneurs from Saudi Arabia. The current club president, Mohamed Al-Khreiji, acquired it in 2025 from Turki Al ash-Sheikh (now — Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia).
This season, the team is third in the Segunda, trailing the leader 'Racing' by two points.
The last time 'Almería' played in the top division was in the 2023/24 season.
