Olympic champion Aramnau: A prolonged war is beneficial for us, and Vova and Sasha will win it
On the Russian website Sports.ru, an interview appeared with Olympic champion 2008 in weightlifting, Andrei Aramnau from Barysaw, who, after his Olympic triumph, mostly appears in the press due to various scandalous situations related to alcohol and drug use. Among other things, the former athlete commented on current political issues.

In the war in Ukraine, Aramnau fully sides with Moscow, with which he completely associates himself. He says:
“A prolonged war is beneficial for us. A very large number of states are fighting against us, and they are losing very seriously to us. We are draining money from them, they are spending a lot. If we start losing, we will hit them with a couple [of nuclear bombs] and they will cease to exist. Vova and Sasha will win World War III, they are the only ones who can do it. So write down my words for history. We will end with a great victory, especially if Trump comes.”
At the same time, he doesn't understand,
“why Ukrainians don't feel sorry for themselves. I love Ukraine very much, with all my heart and soul, I enjoyed vacationing there, there are great people there. But they got caught up in the confrontation of the whole world against Russia. It was in vain that they went along with it. World War III is starting because of Ukrainians. It's so offensive and I feel so sorry for the people.”
Aliaksandr Lukashenka also remains an idol for him:
“In 2020, during the uprising in Belarus, the whole country turned against me when I said that no one could defeat Sasha, because he is a serious leader. Without him, we would be in a mess. We should pray for Aliaksandr Ryhoravich. Without him, we would be worse off than in Ukraine. Lukashenka is great, may God grant him happiness. Aliaksandr Ryhoravich is cool. No one will do anything against him, no one can compare to him.”
Nevertheless, despite such devotion, Aramnau is somehow not invited to work with the Belarusian national weightlifting team — and that's a shame, because such specialists can be counted on the fingers of one hand worldwide:
“I think I am among the top ten best specialists on planet Earth. Maybe even in the top 5 or even top 1. Many understand pharmacology, but few understand technique and biomechanics, body movements. Our national team is completely messed up now, because no one understands biomechanics. They think that if you have strong arms, you should almost walk on your hands! I know how to use levers. That's how ambitious I am!”
But for now, this has not been understood or appreciated — he has to earn a living through online consultations, and it seems to be going quite well:
“I specialize in injury prevention and rehabilitation — this brings very serious money. If you have an injury that can be rehabilitated, I can advise on everything. Fees depend on the severity of the injury and the number of sessions. 200 dollars — and I will start talking to you. If you are in Belarus, I am ready to provide a consultation for 50 rubles or even for free.”
