In Texas, a man shot a crowd near a bar. Media links it to American strikes on Iran
On the morning of March 1, a mass shooting occurred in downtown Austin, the capital of Texas. Near Buford’s pub, an unknown assailant opened fire on a crowd, resulting in two deaths and at least 14 injuries. Three of the injured are in critical condition.
The assailant initially fired from a car, then exited onto the street with a rifle. Police eliminated the perpetrator on the spot. Videos of both the attack and the neutralization of the shooter have already appeared online.
Fox News reports that the incident is being investigated as a 'possible act of terrorism'. The assailant's identity has been established — he is a migrant from Senegal, Ndiaga Diagne.
Photos obtained by journalists show that the perpetrator's clothing bore the inscription 'Property of Allah'. It is also reported that under his outer clothing, he likely had a T-shirt with an image of the Iranian flag or Iranian symbols.
Earlier, The New York Post, citing sources, reported that recent US strikes on Iran might have motivated the man to commit the crime. A Quran was found in the suspect's car. The investigation is being conducted with the involvement of the FBI.
