Polish gynecologist, Professor Dariusz S., may face severe punishment for depriving a young woman of the opportunity to have children during an operation. This horrific incident was reported by The Warsaw publication with a reference to Gazeta Wyborcza.
In 2024, Viktoria, a Belarusian woman, sought treatment at a hospital in Poznań with abdominal pains. An ultrasound revealed an ovarian tumor, and doctors decided to remove this organ. However, during the operation, without waiting for the results of the histopathological examination, the gynecologist arbitrarily decided to expand the scope of the intervention. He removed the girl's second ovary, fallopian tubes, and uterus, permanently depriving her of the ability to bear children.
It later turned out that the tumor was of low malignancy, and a radical operation was not necessary — the patient's chances of survival were close to 100% even without the removal of all organs.
The Poznań Prosecutor's Office claims that the doctor acted without the conscious consent of the patient and violated medical procedures. Moreover, inaccurate information about the course of the operation was found in the documents, and the girl only learned what had actually happened four days later.
The national consultant for oncological gynecology called his colleague's actions unprofessional, and other doctors, in comments to the publication, spoke even more harshly: "He gutted her like a butcher."
The doctor does not admit his guilt. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
