"For the first time in history, US First Lady Melania Trump is chairing a Security Council meeting dedicated to the problems of children in conflict situations," the UN press service reported.
The UN states that "against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Council is shifting its focus to the prolonged crisis faced by children in war zones."
It is noted, however, that previous US First Ladies had already participated in Security Council meetings, but Melania Trump became the first to chair a meeting.
