It is planned to renovate not only the plane itself, but also the monument's foundation, as well as to tidy up the adjacent area. District authorities assure that after the completion of the work, the renovated jet fighter-bomber will return to its place.

The Su-7B plane was installed in Styapyanka in the mid-1980s, when a military town was located there. The combat vehicle was then delivered from the Bobrovichi airfield in the Gomel region. Initially, the plane had tail number 77. After the main street was renamed in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Uladzimir Karvat, the number was changed to 29 — in memory of the plane on which the first holder of the honorary title Hero of Belarus died on May 23, 1996.
