What is the situation in the country with places in kindergartens and who can attend round-the-clock groups
In Belarus, 1550 additional places for preschoolers will appear within a year. Two new kindergartens are already operational, and six more will open by the end of December in Brest, Mstislavl, Lepel, Baranovichi, STB reports.

Efforts are being made to make kindergarten operating hours convenient for parents.
«In the first half of the year alone, we have already changed the operating hours of 31 groups. This includes increasing hours, for example, from 10.5 to 12 hours, and conversely, sometimes decreasing them – from 12 to 10.5 hours. Sometimes the start time of a group changes. For example, a group worked from 7:30 AM, but was only in demand from 8 AM, so it was moved from 8 AM to a later working time so that parents could finish their work and return to pick up their child from kindergarten. This issue is under the control of the Ministry of Education,» says Albina Davidovich, Deputy Head of the Main Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education – Head of the Preschool Education Department of the Ministry of Education.
Some kindergartens have round-the-clock groups. In Minsk, there are two of them – in kindergartens No. 406 and No. 547. Who can get into them?
«The need for such a group can be explained not only by the work schedule but also by certain family circumstances. For example, a mother is raising a child alone and is going through a divorce process. She needs to collect documents; she can leave the child for a short period in such a group, and then return to a regular group. Grandparents are far away or, unfortunately, not present at all. The mother is alone; she works in retail, for example. Her workday is until 10:00 PM. How would she manage? One doesn't want to burden neighbors, some people have little communication, so this is a solution for the mother. At 9:00 PM, the children go to sleep, and after 9:00 PM, a teacher's assistant stays with them until morning,» says Viktoria Zhyhalka, Chief Specialist of the Department of Preschool, General Secondary, and Special Education of the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Another request from parents is for groups for toddlers under two years old. Currently, there are about 500 such groups across the country, and their number is planned to be increased to 600 in the near future.
