Inspectorate employees, together with other services, went to the site and inspected the coastline. During the initial inspection, no possible sources of water pollution were found.
Specialists from the Pinsk Interdistrict Laboratory of Analytical Control took water samples for research. The communal enterprise "Luninets Housing and Communal Services" organized the collection and disposal of the dead fish.

According to preliminary explanations, the cause of the fish kill could be a lack of oxygen in the water. During winter, due to prolonged frosts, ice up to 40-50 centimeters thick formed on the reservoirs, which worsened the oxygen regime in the water.
