A large sum of cash, half a thousand rounds of ammunition. What is known about the case of the Belarusian volunteer detained in Kharkiv
Belarusian volunteer Aliaksandr Krasouski was detained in Kharkiv on March 14, and the next day he was charged with two criminal offenses.

Aliaksandr Krasouski fought first in the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, and then in the "Tur" unit as part of the 225th separate assault battalion.
Krasouski has a higher education, and together with his wife, they are raising a daughter who has a second group disability. Radio Svaboda found out some details of his case.
Case under investigation since January
The case, which is being investigated by one of the departments of the Kharkiv Regional Police, was initiated on January 21 this year, but the Belarusian was only detained almost two months later. All this time — from the initiation of the case to the detention — secret investigative actions were carried out against him.
The Minsk native is suspected of unauthorized abandonment of a military unit (according to Part 5 of Article 407, punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years), and of carrying, storing, acquiring, transferring, and selling weapons and ammunition without the legally prescribed permit (according to Part 1 of Article 263, punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years).
Was there an unauthorized abandonment of the unit?
According to a source familiar with some of the case materials, the Belarusian does not admit that he did not return to service without valid reasons.
He noted that back in August 2025, he informed his commander of his intention to resign, but the commander refused him. As a result, Aliaksandr Krasouski took annual leave in October 2025 and wrote a report addressed to the commander of the ground forces about his dismissal.
From October 30 to November 7, he underwent a medical examination, and then allegedly received an order for dismissal, which is why he did not return to the military unit.
The military unit confirmed that Aliaksandr Krasouski did indeed take leave from October 25, 2025, until November 10, based on the order of the military unit commander. The Belarusian stated that he had handed over all property and his position to the commander at that time. But four days later, the commander revoked his order "due to the escalation of the combat situation," under which the Belarusian was supposed to return to the military unit by October 30. Aliaksandr did not do this, and the military unit initiated an official investigation.
When the question of the Belarusian's arrest was being decided, the court relied on information obtained directly from the military unit.
What was found during the searches?
The search was conducted on March 14. In the rented building, 680,000 euros in 50 and 100 euro denominations, 518 rounds of various calibers, two fuses for hand grenades, and three grenades were found.
Aliaksandr Krasouski stated that the money was intended for the purchase of tractors, vehicles, and other equipment for another brigade where he planned to serve after leaving his previous military unit, and that the ammunition did not belong to him but to another serviceman.
Svaboda's interlocutor indeed confirmed that another Ukrainian serviceman is being investigated in connection with this episode.
Incidentally, the court initially refused the investigation's request to seize all items found during the search – both money and ammunition – because the relevant investigator's claim did not specify their storage location. The court gave 72 hours to correct the errors, but it has not yet been definitively clarified whether investigators submitted a new corresponding motion.
Currently, the Belarusian volunteer is being held in the Kharkiv pre-trial detention center. He will remain there at least until May 12. If necessary, investigators may apply for an extension of his detention closer to that date.
