Gulf countries are becoming increasingly disillusioned with the US over the war with Iran and are starting to question whether they can rely on American security guarantees, Bloomberg reports , citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to Bloomberg, many officials from Gulf countries privately question the strategy of the Donald Trump administration and the goals of US involvement in the conflict. They are also concerned that American military bases in the region make their countries potential targets. However, they do not speak about this publicly in order not to damage relations with Washington.
Of particular concern is a potential peace agreement between the US and Iran if Tehran's missile programs and support for various groups in the region are not curtailed. In such a case, Gulf countries fear being left alone with an strengthened and dissatisfied Iran, which could continue to control the Strait of Hormuz — a vital route for oil and gas transport.
Against this backdrop, some countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, are taking a tougher stance on Iran. They are even considering the possibility of joining military actions if Iran strikes their critical infrastructure. One of their main goals is to create a coalition that can weaken or end Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz.
It is also noted that the region is considering all possible options to unblock this strait, and any ceasefire agreement must limit nuclear threats, missile programs, and Iran's use of drones.
