The Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) has started testing unmanned dump trucks, the company's press service reported . The testing at a special proving ground was personally overseen by the company's General Director, Sergey Lesin.

The production of unmanned vehicles is considered a strategic basis for BelAZ's development for decades to come, as the future of the mining industry lies in complete digitalization. Furthermore, Sergey Lesin states that today BELAZ is focusing on its own developments and cooperation with partners from Russia, completely abandoning Western technologies.

In September 2025, an agreement was signed to establish a Belarusian-Russian enterprise for the development of innovative unmanned and hydrogen-powered 220-ton BelAZ mining dump trucks.
