In a conversation with journalists, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine cannot simply discuss the transfer of Donbas.

"If we leave it to Russia, they will occupy our most fortified positions without losses. Creating new fortified lines could take a year, or even a year and a half. They would be able to attack Kharkiv and other cities that make a significant contribution to our GDP. And this would lead to a split in society, and any internal disunity is Putin's key goal and a threat to our independence," he believes.

Zelenskyy noted that there were mistakes during the four years;

"Of course, there were mistakes, everyone makes mistakes. We need to go back to the 90s and early 2000s, but even then Putin would have found a reason for invasion," he added.

He also said that he is ready to meet with Putin.

As for holding presidential elections, according to Zelenskyy, holding them now contradicts the law on martial law.

"In addition, the safety of people and soldiers who must vote needs to be ensured. How can this be done during an attack?" he says.
