The man was detained on February 10 on a European arrest warrant. According to case materials, he may have transferred 5,000 euros through intermediaries to prepare the crime, writes Delfi.lt.
Lithuanian law enforcement agencies note that a double murder was planned – of an activist from Russia who received asylum in Lithuania, and of a political advisor known for his criticism of Russia.
However, the murder was not carried out. On March 12, 2025, the police conducted an operation and apprehended the suspects.
As part of the investigation, seven individuals came into focus, including those connected to Greece. According to case materials, at least four Greeks are mentioned, three of whom are Greek citizens and one with dual citizenship (Greece and Russia).
Among the suspects are also citizens of other countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania).
It is believed that the main organizers coordinated surveillance and prepared a murder plan, which mercenaries were supposed to carry out for 40,000 euros, while the organizer was planned to be paid 50,000 euros. Part of the sum – 5,000 euros – had already been transferred to finance the initial stage: obtaining documents and paying for travel to Lithuania.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspects collected information about potential victims, stalked them, took photos and videos; a bug was even installed in one of the potential victims' cars. Police suspect they also hacked the activist's electronic systems. Another person connected to Greece may have tried to find a Lithuanian who was supposed to hand over weapons, but this plan was not realized.
The investigation continues in other European countries as well. There is also a suspect in the case who may be in Germany. Police do not rule out that other individuals connected to this case may emerge in the near future.
In the north of Belarus, a huge lake existed — 150 times larger than Narach. It disappeared as a result of a natural disaster, but its traces are visible today
