A scientific team at a local poultry farm is engaged in breeding a Belarusian quail breed. This was announced by its director, Iryna Taukachova, writes Times.by.

The scientists' task is to breed a special hybrid in which the sex of the chicks can be determined already on the first day after hatching. Previously, this was only possible after about three weeks, when the plumage appeared.
The basis for selection is the Japanese quail line — one of the most productive egg breeds. Based on it, they want to create their own Belarusian cross with the desired properties.
The first results are already in: egg production has increased — each quail lays approximately two dozen more eggs. Thanks to this, overall production has grown significantly: instead of the planned 175 million eggs per year, the factory expects to reach about 230 million.
Approximately half of the products are already exported — to Russia, Armenia, and Georgia. Plans include supplies to China and Uzbekistan.
