Fountain Season Opened in Minsk PHOTOS

On April 24, the season for city fountains officially began in Minsk, writes Times.by.

In total, "Minskzelenstroi" (Minsk Green Building) is responsible for 42 fountains located in the city's parks and squares. Three of them are not yet operational as they are undergoing reconstruction. For example, the "Capital" fountain is planned to be launched soon after repairs, and two others - near the MAZ Culture Palace and on Petra Hlebki Street - will be virtually rebuilt from scratch with equipment and communication replacement.

Most fountains will operate daily from 11:00 to 21:00, but on weekends and holidays, the schedule may change.

Preparations for the season opening in Minsk were made in advance: nozzles were cleaned, pumps were serviced, water pipes were repaired, and equipment safety was checked.

Among Minsk's fountains, there are some particularly remarkable ones. The tallest is "Shirmo" near the National Library, where water jets reach about 20 meters. The largest in bowl size is located near the Bolshoi Theatre, and one of the most complex in design is the "Victory" fountain in the park of the same name.
