The Polish Office for Foreigners has published data on Belarusians residing in Poland, writes Reform.news.
As of April 1, 139,343 citizens of Belarus hold various documents for the right to reside in Poland, including:
- 83,971 people — temporary residence permits
- 41,480 people — permanent residence permits
- 10,203 — supplementary protection status
- 2,253 — EU long-term resident status
- 1,028 — refugee status
- 417 — temporary protection status
- 171 people — other grounds
It should be noted that more than 140 thousand Belarusian citizens are registered in the Polish social insurance system. However, the statistics from the Office for Foreigners do not cover holders of work visas.
Last year, Belarusians submitted 52,550 applications for residence permits in Poland, and in the first quarter of this year, 15,642 applications were received from Belarusian citizens.
In the first quarter of this year, Belarusians received:
- 5,926 temporary residence permits
- 953 permanent residence permits
- 212 EU resident statuses
Additionally, 846 negative decisions regarding legalization in Poland were issued concerning Belarusian citizens, and the consideration of 408 cases was discontinued. In total, from January to March, the Office made 8,345 decisions on applications from Belarusian citizens.
64% of residence permits for Belarusians were issued on the basis of work, 25% for family reunification, 4% for education, and 7% for other circumstances.
Most Belarusian citizens reside in:
- Masovian Voivodeship — 54 thousand
- Podlaskie — 14 thousand
- Lower Silesian — 12 thousand
- followed by: Pomeranian (11.5 thousand), Greater Poland (11 thousand), Lesser Poland (10 thousand)
In the first quarter of this year, the office issued 1,483 travel documents (dokument podróży) to Belarusian citizens. In total, from 2020-2026, Belarusians received 11,016 such documents. For comparison, all of Poland issued 12,663 documents during the same period.
