Can High School Students Opt Out of Military Field Training Camps?
This year, 10th-grade students will be sent to military field training camps for 10 days instead of five, and the format of the event will also change. Olga Smirnova, Deputy Chair of the Education Committee of Minsk City Executive Committee, explained on STB TV channel whether it is possible to refuse participation.

The Ministry of Education previously announced that the format of military field training camps for boys would become round-the-clock and "close to military unit conditions". The camps are part of the course "Pre-conscription and Medical Training", for which a final grade is given for the 10th grade, after which students are promoted to the 11th grade. However, exemption from them is possible only due to medical reasons.
As Olga Smirnova clarified, it is impossible to refuse the camps, as it is part of the educational process. Therefore, without a grade based on the results of the military field training camps, a tenth-grader will not be certified in the subject "Pre-conscription and Medical Training" for the academic year.
“And if he is not certified, it means he will not be promoted to the 11th grade,” added the representative of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
She also reported that sites for the camps are being prepared on the territory of children's health camps, recreation centers, and military units. Staying in camps or recreation centers will cost 20—30 rubles per person per day, which will be paid for by local authorities.
Instead of military field training camps, girls will have medical training classes. Their volume is 60 hours. First aid training will take place in educational institutions, as well as in medical universities, medical colleges, and healthcare facilities.
