Fire Rages at Syzran Oil Refinery in Russia After UAV Attack, Fatalities Reported
On the night of May 21, the Syzran oil refinery in Russia's Samara region was attacked by drones. A fire broke out on the premises of the enterprise, and a pillar of black smoke rose above the industrial zone. According to preliminary reports, one of the oil processing units is on fire.

Around 4 AM, local authorities introduced a drone threat regime in the region, and slightly later announced a "Carpet" regime, which completely closed the airspace. Due to the threat, Rosaviatsiya temporarily suspended operations at airports in Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Makhachkala, and Kaluga.
Samara Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed the UAV attack and reported that two people died, with others injured.
"Astra" confirmed the fact of the fire specifically on the refinery's territory. Additionally, one of the drones fell in the private sector of Syzran, approximately 2-2.5 km from the plant, presumably having been suppressed by electronic warfare means.
The Syzran oil refinery is part of Rosneft's structure and is one of the largest in the region. The plant supplies fuel, including to Russia's armed forces. This is not the first attack on the enterprise — the previous major attack on the Syzran Oil Refinery occurred at the end of April.
